Tazym the Terrific Takes Jumpers by Storm @ Chagrin Valley Hunter Jumper Classic

Tazym, a 6 year old Akhal-Teke x Quarter Horse gelding owned by Carolyn VanDyke and bred by Central Asian Equines, recently attended his first AA rated hunter/jumper show ~ the Chagrin Valley Hunter Jumper Classic in Chagrin Falls, Ohio....home of the very first Grand Prix in America. His entry was a last-minute decision that turned into a landslide of ribbons!

When business & family matters kept his regular trainer from competing "Tazy" this season, Carolyn shipped him off to their mutual friends Lindsey Brizendine (rider) and Laurie Droese (coach), who spent a swift two weeks preparing Tazy for what turned out to be his true calling...JUMPERS!

And take a good look at that STYLE!!!

This little horse is one red hot Ferrari....

Tazy started the competition jumping 2'6 in the Unrated Locals divisions. He did extremely well, winning 4th and 7th out of an average of 18 competitors. So they tried him in the Low Schooling Jumpers 3'3 (no jump-off provided), and Low Adult Jumpers 3' for the Rated divisions during the week. He had never jumped a 3-foot course in a competition before....and had never done a jump-off for the fastest time. In Carolyn's own words, "He put everything together on the fly and came out a superstar...He jumped clean and under the time in one of the 3'3 rounds, only matched by 3 others in a field of 24, earning a blue, and came back the same afternoon in the 90+ degree heat to blow the class away and not only do a double clear, but won the class... Tight jumper turns at speed? Slices?  In and outs?  All things he had never done in competition, but nailed.  This round was totally amazing."

The very next day, Tazy won 2nd in the same division, followed by Reserve Champion.
His owner, trainers, and rider were STUNNED! Originally, Tazy had been in training for dressage and some three-day eventing....so he was entered in the Chagrin Valley Classic to simply "put some miles on the boy." Obviously, Tazy proved to everyone where his talents truly shine!

Tazym's Red-Hot Scoreboard for the Chagrin Valley Hunter-Jumper Classic:

~Reserve Champion @ Low Adult Jumpers

~Two 1sts

~One  2nd

~Two 4ths

~One 7th

(Another reminder that this was Tazy's very first hunter-jumper show!!)

Owner Carolyn Van Dyke sends many thanks to Tazy's rider, Lindsey Brizendine, and Trainers Judy Lorimer and Laurie Droese, and her daughter RaeAnn. (It takes a village to show a horse!).

Congratulations from Sweet Water Farm to:

** Tazym **

for a spectacular debut in the jumper ring!

We look forward to future glam shots of Tazzy's super-snappy jumping style!
Keep an eye out for him at a jumpers-show-near-you.
